Rebrand and provide strategic communication support for the Department of Defense’s Exceptional Family Member Program, or EFMP
After rebranding EFMP, Bowen provided a comprehensive communication plan raising awareness of the resources and benefits for all military family members with special needs.
The Bowen Group created materials that provided consistent information across the services for military families with members with special needs and those who support them.
The EFMP ensures appropriate military assignments and provides information and resources to assist and support families as they navigate the unique challenges of military life. The Bowen Group worked with diverse, multiservice working groups to establish goals, objectives, strategies and tactics. Focus groups and online surveys helped to inform the rebranding of the program, driving the development of a new logo, collateral materials and a call to action slogan, “Exceptional Families. Exceptional Service.” In addition to creating a full suite of support materials, The Bowen Group held outreach and training events for leaders, service providers and command representatives across all service branches.
The materials The Bowen Group created also earned one Magellan, four MARCOM and three National Association of Government Communicators awards.
